Thor's Rainbow Bridge

Thor and Loki were longhair gray cats born sometime in June of 1987. I adopted them together from the SPCA in January of 1988, when they were about 7 months old. Normally it is very odd for two cats to stray together, but they were in a cage together and did not want to be separated. Loki was OK without Thor, but Thor was very frantic and cried terribly without Loki. I later found out it was because Thor was blind, and Loki "took care" of him that Thor was so frantic at being separated from Loki. Loki was blind in one eye as well, but he at least had some vision. I couldn't bear the thought of separating them, so I had to adopt them together. Thor also reached through the bars of the cage to pull me close to him and lick my face. *SIGH* Cat Love!

Thor is blind and deaf, but he is very inquisitive and a very brave kitty. He loves exploring new places, but since he's allergic to fleas he's an indoor cat. He loves to lay in the sun, and follows sun spots across the living room carpet during the day. He likes to sleep in between our pillows or on the bed near Rob's feet, probably because Rob gets up for work first in the morning and feeds him.
Thor was really lonely after Loki died, and was having bad dreams where he would cry and run in his sleep. He did that when I first adopted him, but the vet said with shelter cats you can only imagine what they've been through, so just love them and let the pain fade over time. Thor had not ever spent a day in his life without Loki, and was taking it really bad. I didn't feel I was ready for another cat so soon, but I thought that Thor really needed some feline company. Off we went to the SPCA, and came home with Grace and Tigger.

Thor lived another 8 years without Loki, but he never really bonded the same with Tigger or Grace. I think it was Loki that he really missed, not having another cat around.
We put him to sleep when he had kidney failure. And right now it's still pretty painful to think about, so I'm going to stop writing here.
