The Masked Lord
God of Drow Thieves

In the midst of darkness he stood, a well-muscled and graceful drow male, so different from all others. Handsome and slim with hair and eyes that changed with his moods, red when angered or bothered, gold when victory was acknowledged, blue with delight and amusement, and last green when curious interested or puzzled over something. Odd for a drow male for not one part of him was armored, all except for that long flowing black cape that hold a unique gift itself and the jet black long sword strapped to his side, Nightshadow. Who is he? And why was he standing before the symbol of a black half-mask? Why you ask? For he owns that symbol, he is the god of Drow thievery - Vhaeraun.
Vhaeraun is the god of thievery and the furthering of drow aims, interests, and power in the Night Above, as the surface world is known to the faithful. He is also the god of drow males opposed to the matriarchy of Lolth, teaching that males are as skilled and valuable as females, and thus passively opposing the teachings of Lolth's clergy on this point. He believes that men are equallly skilled and valuable as the female race ans strives for gender based equality. He believes that drow should work with the other elven races for common advancement and never associate or trade with Duergar, Svirfneblin, or other Dwarven and Gnome races. (Humans and Halflings can be tolerated, however). By working together with the races of elves of the surface to further advance themselves, he hopes to one again unite ALL elves and return the Elven Race to power.

Vhaeraun is the son of Araushnee (before she was cast out and became Lloth) and Corellon Larethian, and brother to the goddess Eilistraee. Corellon had always managed to thwart Vhaeraun's efforts and plans on uniting the Drow under his wing, to keep the Drow from Lloth and Ghaunadaur's demented grasp. Vhaerun was cast out of the Seldarine, completely banished from Arvandor because he was an accomplice in his mother's plot to destroy Corellon. He holds a deep hatred for all of the Seldarine, but especially Sehanine Moonbow because she risked much to escape his prison and unmask the Masked Lord and Araushnee. Likewise, the Masked Lord nurtures an abiding hatred of Eilistraee. The Dark Maiden always held Corellon's favor more than her hateful brother, and she thwarted Vhaeraun's early efforts to bring all the Ilythiiri (southern, dark skinned elves) under his sway, enabling Lolth and Ghaunadar to make great inroads among those who would become the drow.
Vhaeraun reserves his greatest hatred for the Spider Queen who gave birth to him long ago. The Masked Lord lacks the strength to challenge Lolth directly, so he works against her in shadow, undermines her in silence, and looks to unite the other drow powers against her. This is what drives him and his followers ... and Vhaeraun's influence is growing at a considerable leaps and bounds.

What is it like to be a Priest of Vhaeruaun?
